IMPRESSIONISTIC IDEALISM: An Odyssey of the
Artistic Spirit
Jackson Dainty's artistic career has taken many unique twists and turns that might seem torturous, even for a self-taught artist. He began his life adventure as a painter. He soon was making a living as a commercial sign painter and pictorial artist, but found himself yearning for more. He studied theatre and nurtured his extrovert side. He studied music, particularly vibraharp and marimba. He played in several progressive groups in the 70s.
After a stint of living close to nature (and not much else), way up by the Minnesota/Canadian border, Jackson returned to Minneapolis and continued his artistic quest as a painter, musician, free-lance graphic designer, and art director for a number of advertising agencies. Pursuing his dream as artist and author ultimately lead Jackson to Los Angeles, California. He made a living selling prints of his original works on Venice Beach before the market for the originals themselves began to take off.
Today he enjoys growing acclaim as his work is being accepted by more and more front-line galleries on the West Coast. Jackson calls his style "Impressionistic Idealism," partly as a description of his work and partly as a description of his life. Molds do not fit Jackson Dainty, but his eye and his vision are both true and fine.
